Types of Gymnastics Camps

Summer is quickly approaching, which means it’s almost gymnastics camp season! Camps are a great way for gymnasts of all ages to strengthen their gymnastics skills, make new friends, and become more confident in a new environment. They’re a great learning experience, and they’re a lot of fun too!

It can be hard to decide which camp is best for your gymnast, though. We’ve done a little research and compiled a list of the different types of gymnastics camps available for your gymnast. Once you decide on the type of camp that’s right for your gymnast, it will be easier to select a specific camp to attend.

Local Gymnastics Facility Camp

Your local gymnastics facility most likely offers summer camps. These will be day camps or several days in a row but not overnight. These are great for gymnasts of all ages as they allow them to improve and learn new skills while also doing fun activities and making friends. This is also a great option for gymnasts who are not comfortable staying away from home but still want to participate in a camp.

Gymnastics Summer Camp Facilities

These are the most common gymnastics camps. Gymnasts learn new skills and work to improve their existing skills with a variety of different coaches and equipment. These camps are usually several days in a row and offer both overnight or commuting options. International Gymnastics Camp, FlipFest, and Woodward are the most popular locations for this type of camp. These facilities have several gymnastics gyms and activities such as pools, lakes and dances.

College Gymnastics Camps

College camps are becoming more popular. Gymnasts get to train with college gymnasts and coaches in the same facility that the college gymnasts practice in. These camps usually offer both overnight and commuting options as well. These are a great experience for all ages, but especially good for athletes who are hoping to be college gymnasts one day. This allows the coaches to see your gymnast practice and possibly open up future opportunities for them.
