Humble Beginnings

Rick and LaDonna Snow wedding photo

When a young LaDonna was introduced to Rick Snow, a handsome police officer at Fresno State, it was practically love at first sight. A little bit of dating and a shiny diamond later and there was a wedding to plan. LaDonna’s friends joked that when she had children they would be little Snowflakes. LaDonna didn’t think much of it until her first “Snowflake” arrived…Kindra Snow, now President of Snowflake Designs.

Kindra began gymnastics at 2 ½ years old. The only leotards available were pink or black and meant more for ballet than gymnastics. LaDonna solved this by purchasing lycra and sewing unique toddler leotards. Other gymnastic parents would ask where Kindra's leotards were from and started asking LaDonna to make them for their children. And a business was born! LaDonna and Rick would make regular trips to the textile district of Los Angeles and fabric and leotards began to take over their home.

Although Snowflake was growing no one thought that it would become anything other than a hobby. Then one night Rick had just gotten off work and returned home and the phone rang. It was close to 2 am and the voice on the line was a woman from Israel calling to place an order. Rick took her order, hung up the phone, and realized that Snowflake was going to go places, and that needed to start with getting the business out of their home!

Fast forward to 2016 and Snowflake added a few faces to the family…35 to be exact!
