The doctor who created the RICE therapy has some new thoughts that may have you thinking twice about this go-to therapy.
What is RICE Therapy?
RICE is an acronym for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation.
Rest immobilizes the injury and Ice minimizes swelling and pain. Compression with a bandage or compression tape helps reduce swelling, and elevation helps with swelling and initial bleeding of tissue when used with ice and compression.
Why is RICE Used?
RICE has been the standard treatment for sore muscles and injuries since Dr. Gabe Mirkin wrote his best-selling Sports medicine Book in 1978. It helps relieve the pain caused by injured tissue, whether it's sore muscles from a tough workout or a sprain from a twisted ankle.

Where it All Began
LaDonna Snow, founder of Snowflake Designs, started the company 29 years ago when she started making leotards for her then 2-year-old daughter.
Moms would ask where she bought her daughter's leotards, and when they found out that LaDonna made them herself, the orders started coming in, and a business was born.
When the business first started, LaDonna sold her leotards from a rack in the back of her van. Parents would stop her to purchase

We were honored to receive the Institute for Family Business Rising Star Award in 2016 for outstanding family businesses that haven't quite yet been passed through generations. We are so proud to be a family-owned business and it meant so much to our family just to be nominated.
When LaDonna Snow, CEO, stood at the podium while accepting the award, she knew the exact story that she would tell. Yes, she began this business entirely because her daughter Kindra was in gymnastics and she wanted to make her custom leotards so that her daughter would stand out at every competition. And yes, over thirty years later her daughter and her son-in-law work alongside LaDonna and Rick Snow every single day.
