Happy Holidays, gymnasts! As the holidays draw near and school gets out for the break, you are going to have a lot of free time on your hands. You may need some fun activities to pass the time. You may not even know what to do with yourself until the holidays pass! But never fear - Snowflake Designs has got you covered with some simple and adorable gymnastics holiday arts and crafts projects.

Ornament Decorating!

Decorating your own tree ornament is super fun and easy. You can use this craft as a gift to a family member or friend, or to decorate your home.

You will need:

  • A clear ornament (preferably one that can be opened on the top)
  • Paint (any color or brand)
  • Paintbrushes, pens, stickers, stamps, glitter, etc. (to decorate the ornament)

Steps:

  1. Open your clear ornament.
  2. Pour a bit of paint into the ornament and seal the top with a little piece of tape.
  3. Roll and rotate the ornament carefully to fully coat the inside of the ornament with color.
  4. Take off the tape and set it carefully to dry. When dry, replace the top of the ornament.
  5. Decorate the outside of the ornament however you please. Add stickers, write or draw something, or paint the outside however you would like.
  6. Finished!

Gymnast Snowman!

If you happen to live in a place that gets a lot of snow, then you’re in luck! You can make your next snowman look like an Olympic gymnast doing a handstand or a cartwheel in just a few simple steps.

You will need:

  • Snow!
  • Materials to decorate the snowman’s face (stones, carrots, sticks, etc.)
  • 4 big sticks
  • Accessories for the snowman (shoes, scarf, etc.)

Steps:

  1. Make three balls out of snow, each one a little bigger than the previous.
  2. Stack the snowballs with the smallest on the bottom and the biggest on the top.
  3. Stick two of the big sticks into the top of the snowman to look like legs. Add shoes or boots if desired.
  4. Stick the other two sticks into the middle of the snowman and point them down as if they were arms holding the snowman up.
  5. Decorate the snowman’s face upside down and add buttons or a scarf to the body.
  6. Finished!

Cookies for Your Teammates!

This is the season of giving, so why not give a sweet treat to your friends and teammates? You can decorate any type of cookie with frosting in the shape of little gymnasts or other cute shapes, or write your teammates’ names on the cookies!

You will need:

  • Any type of cookie (sugar cookies work great!)
  • Frosting of any color or flavor
  • Frosting bags/a Ziploc bag
  • Something thin and pointy (a skewer, toothpick, etc.)

Steps:

  1. Bake a lot of cookies however you choose.
  2. If you don’t own frosting decorating bags, take a Ziploc bag and poke a small hole in one of the corners with your thin and pointy object.
  3. Fill your bag with frosting and decorate the cookies however you’d like.
  4. Finished!
