Meet Snowflake Ambassadors, Ella, and Victoria

If you follow us on social media, you know our brand ambassadors. These gymnasts work hard both in and out of the gym and share their love for gymnastics and Snowflake leotards with the digital world. They are influential figures for gymnasts of all ages. For this week’s blog, we decided to hand things over to two of our lovely ambassadors so that they could tell you some of their gymnastics stories and experiences! Both of our amazing ambassadors decided to share the stories of how they got started in gymnastics, and what kinds of challenges and experiences they faced during this time.

First up is Ambassador Ella! She is here to share her story of starting competitive gymnastics a little later than her team at a gym far from her home, and how she has grown to be a strong gymnast despite these obstacles and her careful nature.

Ambassador Ella's Story

My name is Ella, and I have loved gymnastics since I was 18 months old. I started out in a Parks and Recreation "Mommy and Me" program, then moved to a small local gym, and most recently moved to a more competitive gym more than an hour away. My big goal is to become a college gymnast while studying to get into veterinary school. I love animals, especially my two dogs!

Last year, I started online school (before COVID-19) just to make sure I had enough time to do more gymnastics. I didn’t start competing until two years ago, and I started as a Level 4 gymnast while most of my teammates had been competing since they were Level 2's. Sometimes, I feel like living far from my gym, starting competing later in my gymnastic career, and my extra careful nature puts me behind others. But I have adjusted to the traveling, and last year I qualified for state championships on my first meet of the season! As for my careful nature (and for all of you out there with similar personalities), it has its ups and downs. The best part about being extra careful is that I am really getting to know myself and what works for me, what doesn’t, and what I can do to make myself calmer. Mostly, it lets me really understand others when they are feeling nervous. So, for everyone, when things aren’t perfect, hang in there. You’re a gymnast and you’re strong, just like me.

Next up, we have Ambassador Victoria! She is here to share the story of how she found her love of gymnastics (and many other sports along the way)!

Ambassador Victoria's Story

My name is Victoria and I am 7 years old. I am currently a Level 3 Recreation and In-House gymnast. I began my gymnastics journey when I was 18 months old in a "Mommy & Me" class that my mom couldn't wait to sign us up for! It all began with a whole lot of love from my mama, and then the love within me for the gym grew just as much, but not exactly how many would think. After a couple of years, I started to explore my options with other sports.

It started with softball, where I enjoyed playing in the dirt. Soon after, I did cheerleading, where I found so much of my personality, joy, and happiness. That was when I took a break from the gym, but the sport that captured who I was found me next. You may find me on the mat now, but there was another mat that I enjoyed just as much... the wrestling mat! I was the only girl on my team, so I wrestled the boys (and I was actually really good at it). I found myself missing gymnastics though, so I hung up my wrestling shoes, mouth guard, and headgear and headed back to the gym. Now you will find me two hours a week on the bars, beam, floor, and vault....and the trampoline! I am glad to be back doing what I love and couldn't be happier. I just began my journey into In House gymnastics, where I will begin learning about competing. I hope to one day be on teams, and then go to college doing gymnastics. I plan to get a degree in Fire Science before I become a Firefighter.

A big thank you to our ambassadors for sharing your stories and experiences with us today! Do you have any gymnastics stories that you would like to share? Comment them down below! Have a great rest of the week, gymnasts!
