Snowflake Designs All-Star Ambassador Team Feature
Banana
Banana is 11 years old and a level 6 gymnast, training level 7. Her coach jokingly says that she is a level 6.75 because she almost has all her skills for level 7.
She just finished up her level 6 competition season at the Virginia State Championship and placed 2nd on vault and 3rd on floor. All while still coming back from an ankle injury.
After a growth plate injury and fracture in her ankle in July, she was unable to train for almost 2.5 months. At the beginning of this year, after being 5 months post-injury, Banana was finally cleared to train at 100%. It was unknown if she would be able to regain her strength and skills in time to compete in the level 6 season. But Banana said she was going to believe it could happen, even if she wasn't able to compete, at least she was working towards getting better. Banana was ecstatic to not only be able to compete, but to close out the season like she did. Great example of hard work paying off!
While Banana was unable to train, she found comfort in watching videos and reading about other gymnasts who came back from injuries, so she hopes her story inspires other athletes as well.
Banana started gymnastics when she was 4 years old, but her interest was originally peaked at just 2 years old with an activity at her gym called, Indoor Park. Her favorite events are vault and floor. Banana truly loves the sport of gymnastics and just wants to do it in some form for the rest of her life! Whether it is competitive, collegiate, or even just a recreational class, gymnastics will forever be her passion.
As if her dedication and perseverance aren't admirable enough, Banana is also a straight A student! She dreams of going to either UCLA or Notre Dame to study Civil Engineering.
Outside of gymnastics, Banana loves to ride her bike, spend time with her fur-brother, Winston, and perform with her Polynesian dance troupe.
Banana has been part of the Snowflake family for many years. As she would say, Snowflake Designs was her "first love." She used to be a California girl and loved coming into our shop in Fresno, California, but she recently moved to Virginia due to her dad being in the Navy.
We are so excited and happy to have Banana as a member of the Snowflake Designs All-Star Ambassador Team. Banana is a dedicated and hard-working gymnast. We have loved following her journey this far and can not wait to see all the amazing things she accomplishes in the future!
