Snowflake Designs Employee Spotlight: Kanako
In honor of Snowflake Designs' 40th anniversary in 2025, we are doing special spotlight features throughout the year to honor and celebrate those who have made this amazing accomplishment possible. We have a lot of people and things to be thankful for as we look back on the past 40 years. None of it would have been possible without our amazing employees and customers. We are so incredibly thankful for the past 40 years and we are so excited for the amazing things that the future holds for Snowflake.
We started our 40th celebration with a stroll down memory lane on how the business got started with a feature story on LaDonna Snow, Founder & CEO of Snowflake Designs. We kept the party rolling with a feature on another incredibly smart, hard-working, and loyal lady, Kim Brooks! Kim plays a big role in Team Sales and is our Office Manager. Next up, we have a very knowledgeable and talented lady that we are very grateful for, Kanako! Kanako is a Pattern Maker and Designer here at Snowflake Designs.
Kanako started working at Snowflake Designs in 2002. We love to share her story of how she got started at Snowflake. Snowflake Designs was using the company she worked for as a subcontractor. However, the cutting equipment they had did not work well and one day, she walked into the Snowflake warehouse and said, “I want to work for you!” and she has been with us ever since!
Kanako was born and raised in Tokyo. She came to Snowflake with experience in cutting and designing, but she also came with an understanding of gymnastics. She did gymnastics in Junior High and High School. Having a personal understanding of the sport allows her to make the very best leotard patterns and designs for our customers. She understands how critical freedom of movement is while also feeling supported and covered. She is also trained in computer-assisted design which allows her to take her designs to the next level and provide one-of-a-kind looks to our customers. Fun fact - Kanako also makes anime costumes for people attending the Anime Expo in LA!
We are so thankful for Kanako and everything she does!

We are thankful to have someone like Kanako on our team. She has a creative eye like no other and a lot of experience in what she does. She has played a big role in getting Snowflake where it is today. We could not have done it without you, Kanako! Thank you for all that you do!
