Snowflake Designs Donates over $15,000 to Hawaii

CLOVIS, Calif. [Oct. 17, 2023] - Snowflake Designs raises $15,100 for the Hawaii Community Fund to help the island of Maui recover from wildfire devastation.

When disaster strikes, the gymnastics community is quick to help gyms, coaches, and athletes get back on their feet. Snowflake Designs has a mission to give back to the community and is known for creating benefit leotards to raise money to rebuild damaged facilities and support gymnasts in need.

Snowflake Designs rushed into action after the tragedy of the wildfires on the island of Maui in August 2023.

“Maui and Lahaina are magical and to watch videos of the destruction and loss of life was heartbreaking. We have never raised funds for an event that did not have ties to the sport, but after seeing the devastation I wanted to try and hoped that our gymnastics family would be willing to participate,” says Snowflake Designs president, Kindra Snow-Walker.

To support Maui and help them recover from this tragedy, Snowflake Designs created a benefit leotard where all profits would be donated to the Hawaii Community Foundation.

A gymnastics leotard covered in sea turtles was released on August 14, 2023, and due to overwhelming response, it sold out in 30 hours. A second leotard with a floral motif was released so that the gymnastics community could continue to show support and raise funds for a couple more weeks.

After collecting final numbers, the Maui benefit leotards were purchased in 40 different states and $15,100 is being donated to the Hawaii Community Foundation to support the recovery effort in Maui.

Snowflake Designs chose The Hawaii Community Foundation after speaking with a close friend and gymnastics judge, with ties to the island. Snowflake Designs was blown away at how much support the gymnastics community showed and was honored to be able to spread good through leotards.
